You have chosen us as your base camp for your stay in the wilderness and we thank you for it. We are lucky to have, less than an hour's drive away, exceptional sites, places worth stopping at, discoveries within reach.
The surrounding area offers activities for all tastes, the Brive-la-Gaillarde tourist office provides you with references to all the events and all the possible visits.

Day 1: a day among the most beautiful villages in France
Less than 30 minutes drive, three of the most beautiful villages in France: Turenne, Curemonte and Collonges-la-Rouge
20 minutes from the house, first stop at Turenne to climb on foot to its castle , testimony to the former viscountcy of this village. You can enjoy a magnificent view of the surroundings. A visit to the castle is possible and will allow you to enjoy an impressive panoramic view from the Caesar tower. Also benefit from the kiosk for a gourmet break in the middle of the hanging garden of this castle.
Then, head to Curemonte , a medieval village with 3 castles, 3 churches and 3 fountains, which has earned its title of the most beautiful village in France. Before reaching the next village, stop at the Branceilles wine cellar to taste the 1001 Stones.
Finally, end the day in Collonges-la-Rouges , an atypical village with its reddish stones, from the Meyssac quarry. Walk its alleys and admire the sunset which brings out all the beauty of this place. To finish in style, dine at Le Maraîcher which needs no introduction. From the vegetable garden to the plate, this is what awaits you, all in the expert hands of a team that takes great care of you.
Day 2: The Gaillarde city
Located 15 minutes from the house, discover Brive-la-Gaillarde .
If it's Saturday morning, don't hesitate to go and feast your eyes and noses at the Brive-la-Gaillarde market . Located under the Brassens market hall, it will be an opportunity to taste and bring back local products in your suitcases. If it's not a market day, head to the Halles Gaillardes, a permanent market of local products.
Once there, go and explore its historic city center , around the collegiate church of St Martin. Its alleys, its shops, brasseries and restaurants where the friendliness is no longer to be demonstrated, will charm you. The tourist office offers tours of the city which are often very popular.
For dining, choose from the many cheerful tables. Among our favorites, there is Le Chat Noir for lunch or dinner on the pretty square near the Chapelle St Libérale: a lively cuisine, local products and a menu mastered by Anthony and his team. Among our references, there is also the pizzeria Rosi Trattoria , the best Italian restaurant in the Place de Brive or Le Soleil d'Asie for its Asian dishes. Finally, the Atelier du Moutier will also amaze you, and so many others surely that we have not yet had time to test for you.
On a digestive stroll, find the many merchants, artisans and boutiques for a shopping session. Remember to stop at the 100% Gaillarde boutique , our local and eco-responsible brand. For gourmets, go to the LAMY chocolate factory , a feast for the eyes and taste buds. You can also discover the making of chocolate or how cocoa beans are transformed into this chocolate fountain that you will find at the entrance.
Another essential stop is the Denoix distillery , a historic family home, a master liquorist who will reveal the secrets of walnut liqueur and the famous purple mustard!
Finally, explore the city's nature side thanks to the greenway that runs along the Vézère. From La Guierle, discover the city from East to West on foot or by bike.
Day 3: Vézère slate & Pearl of Limousin
Less than 30 minutes from home, today visit the Pans de Travassac . This unusual site will allow you to discover the history of slate workers. Allow 1h30 for a guided tour to discover this old slate quarry and learn the secrets of our famous slate.
After your visit, head towards the village of Donzenac , 5 minutes from the Pans de Travassac. This medieval city is home to many vestiges of the past. You can discover it by strolling through these alleys or in geocaching mode with the TERRA AVENTURA application.
After this stopover in the land of art and history, get back on the road for 20 minutes to visit the Pearl of Limousin: Uzerche , this jewel of heritage located on the banks of the Vézère. There are 3 possible circuits to discover this historic city which will not disappoint you.
Day 4: Nature getaway at the foot of the waterfalls
Less than 30 minutes from the house, with good shoes, head towards the village of Albussac to go to the Cascade de Murel . A wild site where you can enjoy a nature loop at the edge of 3 waterfalls. Ideal picnic spot for a beautiful day.
Go 15 minutes to the South, to end the day in the small village of Argentat on the Dordogne , stroll along the quays, and why not even take a trip on a barge.
Day 5: Art from yesterday and today
Less than 45 minutes from home, book before your visit atLascaux IV in Montignac to visit the complete reproduction of the original cave. On the way back, stop to discover the city of Terrasson-Lavilledieu and its craftsmen.
To end this day rich in artistic discovery, head to Lissac-sur-Couze to tour the Lac du Causse , have a picnic or dinner there before returning to Noailles.
Day 6: The time of the knights
Less than 45 minutes from the house, head towards Hautefort to visit the famous castle with its magnificent garden and all its historical treasures.
On the way back, stop at St Robert , classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, with a lovely panorama and its small medieval streets.
Then, head to Varetz to visit the Jardins de Colette , a nature getaway for all ages. You can then dine at the Castel Novel castle, dating from the Middle Ages and renovated with great taste.
Day 7: day trip to the Lot
Head to the famous Gouffre de Padirac , where you will have previously booked your tickets to access this natural cavity which will offer you an experience that you will not soon forget. Allow 1h30 to 2h for the visit.
Continue the day at Rocamadour , where you can picnic on the cliffside and enjoy this very special city.
One last stop in Martel before heading back, to wander its medieval streets. The charm works right away!
Day 8: A little rest in Noailles
How about sleeping in for this last day of your visit? Today, there is almost no need to take the car. Discover Noailles, this small village in the South of Corrèze, home to 955 Novalians.
You can admire the Château de Noailles , the cradle of the family of the Dukes of Noailles, who remained the owners of the château until the 1980s. One of the oldest lordships in Bas Limousin (13th century), this family has notably given birth to many famous people: knight, archbishop, political advisor, diplomats, minister, deputy, writers, academics. Today it is a private property that cannot be visited. You can nevertheless admire it from the outside and ask for a visit to the Church that adjoins the castle.
You can also go hiking from the village of Noailles: to do this, follow the LE CAUSSE DE NOAILLES circuit offering numerous viewpoints and dotted with exceptional sites.
Finally, we are lucky to have the Gouffre de Lafage in the commune, which in addition to housing one of the largest bat colonies in Europe, offers you a marvelous spectacle of what the earth has been able to create over the years of its existence.
